Compare CASE SEALERS. Case sealers come as tape case sealer and glue case sealer. Some case or carton sealers can handle uniform or random cases sizes. The case sealer can be manual, semi automatic or automatic.
Tape case sealers are the majority of the case sealing market.. The width of the tape is adjustable in most sealers. For larger and heavier the case, wider tape is recommended. Also, for cases where there is a gap between the main tabs, wider tape is needed. Side belts move the cases through the taping station. The tape starts and ends about two inches past the ends of the major tabs.
For glue case sealers, the glue is applied to the minor tabs. The large tabs are then folded down and held down in place for the glue to set. Glue case sealers are particularly recommended for cases where the main tabs have a space when folded down.
Uniform case sealers can seal only one size of case for which it is set up. A random sealer can handle a variety of case sizes without setup changes. The random case sealer is more complex in design, it is slightly slower and more expensive than the uniform case sealer.
In automatic case sealers, the flaps of the case are open as it enters the sealer (top or bottom or both top and bottom). The minor tabs are pushed down first and then the major tabs are lowered as the tape or glue is applied. With semi-automatic case sealers, an operator loads each case. On some models he has to fold down the flaps and slide the case into the machine
