Ashing furnaces

Compare LAB ASHING FURNACES. Burn off or laboratory ashing furnaces are similar to bench furnaces. Ashing furnaces have either a front lift or drop down door. A lab ashing furnace draws in air and preheat it so there is no significant cooling of the sample. This air is then pulled across the sample to remove the vapors created during the ashing process. The vapors then leave the furnace through a chimney.

Ashing furnaces are typically used for burn off of coal samples, quality control in the food industry, and analysis of materials for the determination of the content of metals and other inorganic materials by the ashing process.

The ashing furnaces listed here range in size from 3 liter (1/10 cu ft) to 50 liter (1.6 cu ft). This is a broad range for laboratory or small production needs. The burn off (ashing) temperature ranges from 975 to 1350 C. This meets most small ashing furnace requirements. The outer shell of the furnace is painted metal and is often double with an air gap to allow cooling air to flow in between to make sure that the outside walls are cool enough for the touch.

The temperature controllers range from simple set point to PID and microprocessor controlls. The choice depends on the flexibility required for the ashing furnace.
