Compare PORTABLE INDUSTRIAL or COMMERCIAL DUST COLLECTORS. Portable industrial or commercial dust collectors come in two styles, source point and standard dust collectors for commercial or industrial use. Standard dust collection uses one or two air inlets for hose connections. The source point dust collector has one air intake for the source. For many industrial air cleaning applications, an air cleaner that can be moved to different locations is required.
The source point portable dust collector is mostly used to remove soldering fumes. The units have a 1 to 5 hp air suction fan with a filter area of 40 to 100 square feet. A common name is fume extractors because in most applications fume removal is more important than dust.
Since for most applications, the portable industrial dust collectors are located close to the user, the noise level is important. The hose length that comes standard with most dust collection units is 12 feet. This is the maximum distance that an operator can be located from this type of air cleaner. The velocity of the air (suction) is important to consider how close an operator has to work near the air input
