Internal combustion engine forklift trucks with pneumatic tires give a softer ride and have better traction than cushion tires. They also have higher ground clearance and are better on uneven ground, such as outdoors.

Heavy loads above 15,000 pounds are usually handled by trucks with pneumatic tires. They have a variety of engine sizes for gas/propane and diesel fuels.

For a user who has only one truck for indoor and outdoor use, the pneumatic models are recommended. With the larger tires, the right angle stack and turning radius require more space than it would need for cushion tires.
